For more than 140 years, Saint Vincent’s Services has been dedicated to supporting children and families facing complex challenges. As community needs have evolved, so have we—continuously expanding and refining our programs to deliver responsive, high-quality care.
Today, Saint Vincent’s Services offers a comprehensive continuum of specialized services designed to meet children and families where they are and support them at every stage of their journey. Guided by a multi-year strategic planning process launched in 2023, we continue to strengthen and diversify our service model to ensure long-term impact and sustainability.

Founded in 1885 by the Diocese of Fall River and staffed by the Sisters of Mercy, Saint Vincent’s Services began as an orphanage dedicated to caring for vulnerable children. Today, Saint Vincent’s Services (SVS) is a separately incorporated 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a nationally accredited leader in behavioral health and child welfare trauma treatment. Serving children, youth, and families across Fall River and Southeastern Massachusetts, SVS delivers a comprehensive continuum of care designed to address complex behavioral, emotional, and clinical needs. In 1970, the organization relocated from its original North Main Street location to a 20-acre campus on Highland Avenue, expanding capacity to better serve the growing needs of the Southern Region of Massachusetts.
Saint Vincent’s Services operates a fully integrated campus that includes:
Eight residential treatment cottages
A campus-based Young Parent Living Program (YPLP)
A Behavioral Health Clinic
Supportive youth services, including Life Skills Programming and Occupational Therapy
Administrative and support facilities
Our programs and services include:
Crisis stabilization and diagnostic assessment
Outpatient behavioral health services
Residential treatment (congregate care)
Life skills development
Workforce and job readiness training

Saint Vincent’s Services is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH). We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), an independent, international nonprofit organization that evaluates human and social service providers for quality, safety, and effectiveness. The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) refers youth to Saint Vincent’s Services for emergency and intermediate congregate care placements. SVS is among the Commonwealth’s largest providers of treatment and care for children and adolescents who are unable to remain safely in their homes due to behavioral health or complex clinical needs.
