Saint Vincent’s Services is pleased to announce that it received expedited reaccreditation from the Council on Accreditation (COA) as a result of no deficiency ratings. Saint Vincent’s reaccreditation, valid through January 31, 2030, is external validation of Saint Vincent’s Services unwavering commitment to quality, accountability, and operational excellence as a nonprofit multi-service trauma treatment facility for children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances. This milestone marks Saint Vincent’s Services’ seventh consecutive COA accreditation, a distinction achieved through a rigorous review process conducted every four years and requiring a full year of preparation, evaluation, and continuous quality improvement efforts.
Saint Vincent’s Services is a private, nonprofit, multi-service trauma treatment facility for children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances. Saint Vincent’s provides an array of behavioral health treatment that includes outpatient mental health clinic services, in-home clinical services, and a continuum of residential treatment programs for youth . Established in 1885 by the Diocese of Fall River as an orphanage staffed by the Sisters of Mercy, Saint Vincent’s Services (SVS or Saint Vincent’s) today is a separately incorporated entity, a 501(C)(3). Today, Saint Vincent’s Services is comprised of eight (8) residential cottages located on our campus, one (1) campus-based Young Parent Living Program (YPLP), a Behavioral Health Clinic, supportive youth services (i.e., Life Skills Program and Occupational Therapy), and other administrative buildings. Programs and services include crisis stabilization and diagnostic assessment, outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment programs (congregate care), life skills services, workforce and job development. Saint Vincent’s Services is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), as well as the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) and is a separately incorporated entity of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fall River.
This accreditation acknowledges Saint Vincent’s Services unwavering commitment to ensuring consistent implementation of standards of best practice in trauma treatment, governance, and fiscal accountability. Accreditation reflects the time and effort of staff and Board members to ensure programs and services meet high standards and continuously adapt to community needs. Saint Vincent’s Services COA Accreditation was also expedited through the Pre-Commission Review Report (PCR) process because it received no out-of-compliance ratings in any fundamental practice standards. This means the organization met every required standard without deficiencies.
The Council on Accreditation is an independent review that confirms an organization meets national best-practice standards in child and family services. COA accreditation is awarded through Social Current and is only given to agencies that meet strict requirements. Accredited organizations demonstrate strong leadership, responsible financial management, clear policies, and measurable results. The process evaluates how services are delivered, how resources are managed, and how outcomes are tracked. COA’s standards focus on prevention—reducing child abuse and neglect by strengthening families, building protective factors, and fostering trust between communities and service systems. Externally, accreditation signals quality and accountability. Internally, it provides a practical framework for improving operations, strengthening oversight, and driving continuous improvement.
