Department of Early Education and Care Issued a Two Year Renewal to Saint Vincent’s

Saint Vincent’s is pleased to announce that our Emergency Residence (ER) Latency program, Cottage 1 on our 30-acre Fall River campus, has been re-licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) for another two years. Miguel Ortega and Marie Zincardi, Residential and Placement Licensors from the office of EEC, visited Saint Vincent’s on March 16th. Saint Vincent’s received positive feedback about client record reviews, personnel file reviews, and staff interviews. Additionally, Saint Vincent’s was in full compliance with no citations noted.  

The Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) was formed in 2005, making Massachusetts the first state in the nation to have a state-level department focused wholly on early education and care. EEC’s vision is that children, youth, and families reach their full potential now and in the future. EEC licenses approximately 9,000 childcare programs, residential facilities, and foster care/adoption placement agencies that can serve an estimated 230,000 children. Daily, EEC supports an average of 55,000 children from low-income or at-risk families to attend a high-quality family or group childcare program.

The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) is part of the Executive Office of Education, one of the Executive Offices under Governor Maura Healey. Education Secretary Dr. Patrick Tutwiler oversees the Executive Office of Education and is Governor Healey’s top advisor on education. An eleven-member Board of Early Education and Care sets policies and regulations for early education and care programs and services in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Paul Belsito chairs the Board of Early Education and Care.
