“Christmas isn’t a season. It’s a feeling.” Edna Ferber

As the Christmas season approaches, we are hoping you will join us in being a part of making this Christmas more than just a season for the children, youth and families we serve. Your simple act of generosity will make a big difference in their life.

Christmas is a challenging time for many of the children, youth and families in our community, but together we can bring them the joy, wonder and excitement this time of year brings.  Can you picture the joy on a child’s face as she tears open a Christmas present for the first time?  Can you feel the excitement of the young boy who receives a special gift and realizes he hasn’t been forgotten?

With your help we can make Christmas wishes come true!

Your generosity and kindness will show each child that they are valued and most importantly, that there is hope for a brighter future.  You can make certain that every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning and if you so desire you can choose specific items from one of our children’s Wish Lists throughout November and December or by purchasing gifts from our Gift Suggestion List.  If you would prefer not to go out shopping please consider contributing financially by donating to our 2020 Christmas Fund.

On behalf of the many children, youth and families whose wishes will come true and who will learn about the softer more beautiful side of Christmas – THANK YOU.

Christmas Gift Ideas

Every year, dozens of children arrive at Saint Vincent’s in the days just before Christmas – after the majority of donated gifts have arrived. In addition to gift certificates or cash donations, the following gifts would be very helpful to have on-hand for those children:

Most Requested Items:

  • Gift Cards: Target, Amazon, VISA, Old Navy, Kohl’s, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and J and B Hockey
  • Portable CD Players or non-recordable (no video or audio) MP3 Players with Over-the-Head Headphones
  • Headphones (please no earbuds)
  • Board Games: Checkers, Chess, Monopoly, Life, Guess Who, Connect 4, UNO, Battleship, Charades for Kids and all types of trivia games.
  • Lego Sets (ages 8+)

Other Items:

  • CD’s of popular music (clean version only) “Now That’s What I Call Music” are the most requested.
  • Stereo/Small Boom Box with CD player AM/FM radio
  • Nonviolent Video games (rated E for everyone or T for Teen) for 2DS, XBox One, PS4, or Nintendo Switch
  • Portable DVD players and DVD’s geared toward a young adult audience (Rated G, PG, or PG-13, non-violent themes only please.)

Please remember that the majority of children who live at Saint Vincent’s are between the ages of 10 and 18.  Often we receive many gifts for much younger children and have difficulty finding last minute presents for our older youth.  The holidays are an especially difficult time for anyone separated from family, and we do our best to make the atmosphere at Saint Vincent’s as joyful as possible for all of our youth.

For security and organizational reasons, as well as agency policy, all gifts need to be UNwrapped.

Gifts need to be received by Friday, December 11, 2020 so that each gift can be wrapped, organized and delivered to all of our locations throughout the campus and community in time to magically appear under the tree on Christmas morning.
